Okay! FOCUS! Depending on what time of the year it is for you when you’re listening to this FOCUS is something that comes up quite often for my high-achieving leaders. Know it’s common to struggle with focus.

Whether there’s a holiday coming up with a frenzy in the air that has you ancy, you have sick kiddos, or you’re maybe feeling a little less than inspired, I have strategies for you!

Five of them! And they fit perfectly with FOCUS as an acronym. Let’s start with the letter F.

Focus: F is First Things First. I hear myself saying this to my 5-year-old all the time, but I’m really saying it to myself. Ha! One thing at a time. First things first. Focus. If you’re not already in the habit of making a list every morning and night this is a great time to start!

List all the business building and business tasks you need to focus on. Prioritize the list. What has to happen today? What has to happen first?

I know this isn’t a new strategy. But in times of frenzy, difficult circumstances, or simply feeling uninspired, this helps tremendously to get a foundation for how you’ll spend your time when you make time for your business.

F is for First things First.

On to O. O is for Overcome. There will be something you will need to overcome to stay focused. Maybe something little. Maybe something big. When you set your mind to the fact that obstacles will emerge. Tricky circumstances will arise. Times get tough. You know this.

To stay focused you will need to overcome these. In fact, these situations will sharpen your focus. You can choose to rise to the occasion. Whatever you’re faced with and whenever it occurs you’ll be ready because you’ll be anticipating there will be something. And you’ll be ready!

O is for Overcome.

Let’s talk about C. C is for Care. You have to care that your focus isn’t where it could be. You have to care about how this impacts your results. Not just your business results, but the result of how you show up for yourself and for your team.

And I know you do. So take a minute. Think it through. Check-in with yourself on your level of care about each of these.

Once you get re-engaged and in action and having fun you’ll be so glad you did. This one is a lot like exercise.

C is for Care.

Next up is U. U is for Unstoppable. You know you are! The mission you’re on. The work that you’re doing. It matters. Your team. Your customers. Your company. They need you. You need to show up for yourself. Wavering focus comes with the journey. It’s totally part of the process because you’re in this for the long game.

Don’t forget you’re unstoppable. Do what you need to do with these five strategies to pull your focus up to where you feel good about it. Do what you need to do to feel unstoppable again. Change up your office space? Create a new playlist? Plan a co-working day with a team member or two? Maybe with your mentor?

What would get you re-committed to your focus and feeling unstoppable again?

U is for Unstoppable.

Last but not least. S. S is for savvy, of course. My whole focus is helping you, high achievers, transfer belief and resilience to your team by becoming savvier leaders.

What does it mean to be savvy?

It means having good powers of judgment. It’s having perception. Savvy is having common sense. It’s having practical knowledge.

It’s the ability to have good judgment. The meaning of the word savvy is to be wise. It’s having the know-how to focus. To put things first. To overcome. To care. To be unstoppable. And to be savvy is to get to teach this to others. Take your team along with you.

It’s incredibly authentic to share if and when your focus is a bit off the mark. And then bring your gals along with you as you regain that focus.
