Hey there savvy leaders! Welcome to episode 28! If you feel as though there is always something to be done in your business with never enough time in the day this episode is for you!

When it Feels Like There’s Never Enough Time in the Day as a Direct Sales Leader

Wouldn’t it be great to feel like everything was done? To feel as though there were never any loose ends hanging in the air with your business?

To feel like your to-do list was complete. And to enjoy the freedom and peace of mind of not feeling like you’re always behind.

Well, it is realistic and one of the many benefits my clients tell me they didn’t think was possible. They used to accept the fact that there would always be something left undone, they would always feel disorganized and this was simply the nature of the business.

It doesn’t have to be! I promise you.

Even if you already use power hours or time blocking, this is a new way to approach these strategies. And if you’re not using power hours or power time blocks of any length, this is your formal invitation to adopt these strategies in a way that will work for you and your leadership style.

When Your Biggest Challenge is to Get More Organized as a Direct Sales Leader

All high-achieving leaders in Direct Sales that I talk with share the same struggle. They think their biggest strength should be to become more organized. In every sense of the word at different times, and for some, all at the same time. More organized with time, their schedule, their plan for the month to unfold, their communication with their team, their own personal business, and their own personal development as a leader.

That’s a tough place to be and stay. To never feel organized enough.

Today’s episode is about utilizing common organizational tools, but using them in a way that works for you and your personal leadership style.

Our focus today is on the leadership style that’s more “magic in the madness” if you will. A leader who doesn’t love goal setting, planning, schedules, following a to-do list, or even having regular power hours. This leader is someone who is more likely to want to be with and around people. If this is you, keep listening, and bravo! You’re working to your strengths.

Hold tight, if you’re the opposite leadership style because the next episode is for you personally, but this episode will be critical for you to soak up because you absolutely have leaders on your team that have an opposite leadership style than you, a more “magic in the madness” style. You’ll want to keep listening so you can better understand and relate to her and even share this episode with her.

Ok, so the number one strategy is to work with themes. Identify different themes to better organize your time and efforts so you can spend more purposeful time with the people you’re in front of.

This is about taking things to the next level. Not fixing anything you’re doing wrong. Because you’re not. Embrace and channel your personal leadership style and let themes direct your strengths.

How do you use themes to be more organized? Well, first you’ll loosely choose a timeframe. A month, a week, and/or a day. Then you’ll choose a topic.

For example, if your theme for the month is new team members, you’ll apply this filter to your conversations and communication. Weekly, you can use this theme to direct your energy and efforts. Daily, you can use this mindset at the beginning and end of your days to check in and know you’re being organized with your time because you have a focus.

Day to day, with an organized focus on new team members, you’ll approach each conversation with curiosity and how to be a helper. This will foster open conversation with new team members in mind.

At the end of the day, use the organized focus to reflect “Who do I need to circle back with that I connected with today and we missed the opportunity to for this conversation?

Themes to Organize Your Efforts as a Direct Sales Leader

Other topics of themes to organize your monthly, weekly, and day-to-day focus:

Your top 20%. The top performers on your team are doing 80% of the work. These individuals can change month to month. Take a fresh look at who’s making up this top 20% if you haven’t recently and let this be your focused theme.

Systems. What’s the one area that’s pulling you away from important, productive efforts, because you don’t have a streamlined system around it? Onboarding new team members? On-going training for your team. Launching a team event to get people in action? Mentoring your top 20%? Key client follow-up?

Getting back to basics with your own business. If this is you, listen in to episode 25 Do you need to get back to basics in your direct sales business. This episode will help you jump-start this area and help you organize your theme and focus.

I’ve given you three to start with. The three most common areas I work on with my clients. What else? What other themes will help you organize your efforts so you’re not feeling like there’s never enough time in the day.

Because once you have an organized focus broken down to themes, you know there is a time and space to dedicate to the most pressing areas of your business. You can’t do everything all at once. But you can pick one theme to start with, know there is a future month to dedicate to the other themes and you’ll get to them.

No need to stress about feeling unsettled because you have a current focus. It will all fall into place. You have a theme and a plan. Yet you don’t have to commit to power hours, using a planner, or a schedule if that’s not how you work best.

Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Know that you can only be your personal best by embracing your own leadership style and strengths. And know that you’re not alone in feeling the personal pressure applied to yourself by feeling “I should be more organized.” Own the truth behind that, yet honor who you are and how you work best.

Only then will you feel less like you’re fighting against the natural order of things and embrace all the success, freedom, peace of mind, and level of organization with your own twist on it, that will help you and your team soar, regardless if their style is different than yours.

And if your leadership strength and style are more scheduled and planned with power hours being your thing, tune back in for episode 29! In the meantime,

Drop me a note on Instagram @yourcrazybigdreams and let me know what your leadership style is. Magic in the Madness or Planned Power Hours or something different?

Either way, the best is yet to come! Always.
