Does every dollar already have a job in your social selling business? 

Maybe you’re already familiar with the question “Does every dollar have a job?”. This prompts us to think about whether or not our earnings are accounted for. It encourages intention, planning, allocating, and accounting for every dollar. Smart. 

Even if we were to decide a certain amount is fun money. We’ve still identified what it’s for and how much.  Giving every dollar a job means we know what’s coming in, where it’s going, and why.


Does every future dollar in your social selling business have a job? 

Today we’re focused on giving every future dollar earned in your direct sales business a job. It’s crucial to think about opportunities and possibilities from a crazy big dreams mindset. 

On the flip side, it’s important to not limit yourself by only considering what you’ve earned in the past. We don’t want to simply add 10% or 25% to what you accomplished last year. 

Those are numbers to know and be aware of, sure, but when you’re dreaming crazy big dreams you want to plan for your short-term and long-term future goals by focusing on opportunities and possibilities that only crazy big dreams are made of. 

Whether every current dollar has a job or not is a bit irrelevant to our conversation today. Today is about the future. What you will manifest with your heart, values, soul, spirit, commitment, follow through, and ambition is about the future. 

Is it helpful to know if every current dollar has a job? Of course! It’s about a spending plan. A budget. Not living beyond your means. Saving wisely. Investing for the future. 

My sister has worked in the financial industry her entire career. She’s always said there’s a pattern when people have more money. They seem to care a bit less about late payments, late fees, unnecessary expenses, and fees that could be avoided because they have more than they need. 

It’s insignificant. Yet it reflects a mindset and behavior pattern that doesn’t serve wise wealth. Maybe this is nothing like your habits. But let’s make sure it isn’t. 

Do this to true up your current direct sales earnings.

Schedule time to double-check where things can be cleaned up, if any. Do you have memberships you pay for but aren’t using? Do you incur late fees? It may not amount to a lot by month, but annually, it all adds up. First, take time to true up those loose ends.

Then, let’s make sure you’re not looking to past accomplishments when giving every future dollar a job. Instead, you want to get into a crazy big dreamer mindset and think about future opportunities.

Think about your future, your family’s future, the people and causes you want to help, and the difference you want to make, either in a bigger way than you’re already doing or in ways that you haven’t yet been able to.

How will you make a difference in the future with your direct sales earnings?

Don’t put a timeline to it. Simply look ahead to the ways you want to make a difference. Maybe it’s not even in a big way. Maybe it’s in small ways. Maybe it’s anonymous. Maybe for your family, your community, your church, your country, or another country.

For me, I’ve always wanted to be able to pay bills for friends who are down on their luck, but do so anonymously.

I have a client I’m working with who didn’t want even me to know what charity she was giving to because it took away from the selfless giving she valued. She didn’t want anyone to know.

Whether your future wealth has an anonymous component to it or not, I’m here to invite you to truly envision what’s ahead.

Start with three to five things you want for the future. Maybe that includes travel, a special experience for your kids or parents, a second home, a missions trip, a cause or charity close to your heart.

Next, write out each of these in full color with great detail using all of your senses. Write what this looks and feels like when it comes to life. Write what you see. Who you’re with. The colors you see. The scents you smell. The climate. How you feel.

Yes this may be something you can capture on a vision board, however, you might create one, but that can come later. First, I recommend getting it on paper literally using paper and a pen. It doesn’t have to be a perfect journal or notebook.

When we put pen to paper instead of using electronics, it’s a much more personal experience. Your handwriting is unique to you. You may not finish in one sitting. You may have to step away and come back to it. You may add more over time.

It’s important to simply start. Once you do, you’ll see how there can be a deeper level of detail and how you can pull in all of your senses.

Next, for each idea, identify how many future dollars will need to be given to this job. Maybe you’ll have to do a little research to find out what kind of investment this would require to see it come to fruition.

It simply depends on your idea. Maybe it’s more clear-cut as if you were donating to a missions trip or something where you get to decide the amount. Great!

But if you’re going to assign future dollars to jobs, you have to know how many dollars go to each job or even one job.

Let your why expand for your direct sales business.

Lastly, make it part of your new why. Why you got into this business has maybe changed a bit since you first started. Let the mission behind your future dollars become part of your new why. I recommend sharing it. Let it be known at least to a level in which you want to share.

It’s really important to let go of any timeline on your ideas. Let them unfold and happen when they are meant to. It could be much sooner than you could anticipate. It may be longer than you’re thinking. The timeline isn’t what’s important.

What’s important is that you allow yourself to dream crazy big again and put this on your heart.

My hope is for you to have a fresh new purpose and passion behind why you’re doing what you’re doing. Why you’re sharing what you have to offer in all ways; products, services, and business opportunity.

Look ahead to your future. The legacy you’ll leave. Crazy big things will happen. Don’t underestimate your influence, your reach, and the impact you will have in bigger and far more reaching ways than you’ve already experienced.

It will be with your own style. It will unfold in a way that is unique to you and no one else. Because the best is yet to come, friend. Always.
