Hey savvy leaders. It’s Tammy Meyer. Welcome to episode 96! I’m so happy you’re here.

Today we’re talking about your internal value, the value you feel within yourself as a direct sales leader.

Look, there are so many measurable external variables in this business that leaders can often get lost in them. They can overshadow the internal values you have. This can lead to a whole host of challenges as a leader.

External measurable variables like your sales, your business volume, the size of your team, the number of new leaders you’ve helped reach rank, your social media stats and the list goes on.

These are all important. And with a daily, weekly, quarterly, and year-over-year focus on them, it’s easy to have them overshadow the internal values you have.

So let’s talk about this impact. The big gift in this is when internal values rise above the external variables, you have a sustainable focus for your confidence as a leader.

Getting Clear On Your Value As A Direct Sales Leader

When your internal values are clear and in focus three things happen:

One: You’re less reliant on external circumstances for satisfaction. When business volume and sales fluctuate, and these can have some big swings, it can take us up and down along with it.

But clarity on your internal values helps you feel solid and stable in your leadership because these values are constant. They’re not changing like volume and sales are.

When you’re going about your work, the time you spend with your team and clients, you can feel satisfied and encouraged regardless of where those numbers are because your satisfaction comes from within, not solely on hitting numbers.

Validation From Within As A Direct Sales Leader

The second thing that happens when your internal values are clear and in focus is that you’re less reliant on external circumstances for validation. This is a big one! Disconnecting your value and worth, deep down, from the results, the volume, and sales of your business, the followers is essential.

This external value attachment may not be visible to others, or your team, but deep down, it can be there for you.

When you’re internal values are front and center this value attachment to the external circumstances evaporates. It’s just not there. It’s an incredible feeling. To have internal validation as a leader is everything. In my professional opinion, it’s arguably the most important.

Feeling Fulfilled As A Direct Sales Leader

The third thing that happens when your internal values are clear and in focus is that you’re less reliant on external circumstances for fulfillment.

Yes, of course, there’s a good feeling, a celebration, and a boost when the external circumstances are big sales and record-breaking business volume. It’s important to celebrate these! And recognition is key!

However unwavering fulfillment in your leadership role comes from your internal values. So when the big sales aren’t so big and business volume is scary low, you still feel fulfilled! Yes, it’s possible.

These internal values are what sustain you. They keep your focus, perspective, and forward momentum. It’s what’s more important than the numbers. It’s what keeps you excited for what’s to come. Especially when those external circumstances are not in your favor.

To recap, when your internal values are clear and in focus you’re less reliant on external circumstances for satisfaction, validation, and fulfillment. The ups and downs, the reality really, of business volume, social media stats, sales, and all the numbers, it’s all still there and important.

But your worth, your value your satisfaction, fulfillment, and arguably most importantly your validation, can come from your internal values. This sustains you as a leader. This connection to your internal values builds your confidence in your leadership skills and your role as a leader.

Here’s the question I will leave you with today.  How much of your fulfillment, validation, satisfaction, and worth comes from external factors like volume and sales, and how much comes from your internal values?
